Hello everyone,
I've got this Sony FDD drive, forever. Put it in a drawer many ages ago, working, I'm sure.
Recently I've been plagued by floppy disks killing drives, in a domino effect, and I got this one out from the drawer. Only to discover it actually reads, and formats perfectly known to be working floppy disks, but when trying to actually write data, it fails on track #63, and supposedly afterwards. Specifically, i'm using Winimage to fill some floppy with stuff, and the drive throws a generic error (which Windows 11 doesn't understand, #1124 - never seen this before), and then prompts about the track issue. If I do the ignore button, the error keeps showing up for head 1, then track #64 head 0, then track #64 head 1, so I assume it goes downhill from there to 80.
Picturs attached.
Of course, I've cleaned the drive, and heads already with IPA. Nothing wrong visually.
Any ideas? Good for e-junk?
