Trying to run The Operative: No One Lives Forever through VMWare with Windows 2000 virtual machine but I get this error:

Couldn't set D3D Emulation mode. Shutting down NOLF

Any ideas what I can fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Is there a specific reason to use VMware? VMware's D3D device is still very primitive so it is not surprising

Is there a way to fix VMware's broken 3D acceleration?

idea: reactos instead perhaps or a glide wrapper such as nglide or dgvoodoo.

dgVoodoo2 might work. But why not native?
