Hi,
If anyone has the driver/software CD for this card, could you please upload it somewhere.
There are several variants of the Hercules GameTheater XP card (a few CDs available on the Internet Archive), but I'm specifically looking for the CD with drivers/software for the "7.1" version.

I haven't had much luck with the Crystal 07 driver for Windows XP. Apps/games that use sound acceleration either crash, there is sound popping or freezing every 5 seconds.

In Windows 98, I've been using drivers for the "6.1" version. Not impressed so far, can't really tell if sound acceleration/positioning is working.

Link to some images; the software version on these discs seems to be 4.03?

Edit:
Found a FTP driver collection here; don't know if any of them are for this card specifically; will test out.

Edit 2:
GTXP_501_HELP.exe
GTXP_502_HELP.exe
GTXPv5011.exe
GTXPv5021.exe

The Detail tab for the above files mentions "Game Theater XP 7.1".

Still looking for the CD, though.

Thank you.

Can you post pictures of your 7.1? All the listings for 7.1 on eBay look exactly like my 6.1. The card model number is the same. The breakout box is the same.

None of the boxes say 7.1. In fact, they all look like the regular Game Theatre XP (5.1)

My 6.1 box specifically calls out that it is the first 6.1 card.

The only way that looks like 6.1 works is possibly through the optical out as there are only enough speaker outputs for 5.1

My driver / software CD is version 4.03 and it also specifically says it is for the 6.1 card.

Ok, so the manual for the 7.1 shows the headphone jack being used for the other 2 speakers.

Have a look at this page. Version 6.09 looks like the latest version of the drivers available and the drivers are for the whole line of these cards.
https://web.archive.org/web/20030419073243/ht … odid=17&c=1&p=2

That page calls out the 6.09 driver file available in this folder on the archive you posted:
http://ftp.hercules.com/sound/exe/Crystal_Sound_Cards/

The .zip is the one you will want as it should have the soundbank included.

Some info I found:
The XP and XP 6.1 both shipped with the CS4630 DSP, with the XP 6.1 supposedly switching to the CS4624 later on, while the XP 7.1 supposedly shipped with the CS4624.

The CS4624 is supposedly an older DSP and is a cut down version of the CS4622 ?

Edit again:
According to this, the XP, XP 6.1 and XP 7.1 are all the same exact hardware. The only difference was the drivers added 6.1 and then 7.1.

I did find pictures that show two different part numbers for the external boxes though
460 5058433
460 5058491

My 6.1 has the 8491 variant.

I can rip and upload the 6.1 CD if you want. I will do that anyway when I get a chance as I am not finding the ISO for it anywhere.

cyclone3d, thank you for the additional resources!

My card uses the CS4630 chip. It was listed as 7.1, so I assumed that this info was correct.

Yes, please upload the CD ISO when you get a chance.
I will try the 6.09 version of the drivers today.

I played around with the 5011 drivers yesterday on Windows XP.
They offer a 7.1 output option. While Sensinfo and Device Manager display the card as "6.1".
And the drivers are stable (unlike the later Crystal 07 still available on the website).
Tested with headphones. Quake 3 with A3D sounds OK, Unreal Tournament also (I find the Z-axis with Sensaura cards very impressive, you can really tell that something is happening above/below you).

I might also try some VXD drivers on Windows 98 to get Chaotic Wavetracing going.
Did that in the past with a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz but with limited success.
Might work better in combination with DirectX8 as opposed to DirectX7.
