Hi Guys,

Just a quick post. I always wanted to work out what support SimCity 2000 had for FPUs. I could never find anything specific.

Anyway I got Claude to decompile the SC2000.exe file and this is the result:
For periodic tasks such budget, graphs, terrain generation and loading a city the FPU is used, but the standard gameplay/scenario/simulation the FPU does not seem to be used at all.

I posted a little bit more info on my blog:

Claude suggested I hook it up in an emulator and compare the CPU cycles to be 100% sure but I haven't done this yet.

It's like the first SimCity, isn't it?

In 2003, I voted in favour of joining the European Union. However, due to recent developments - especially the restrictions on cash usage - I'm hereby withdrawing my support. DOWN WITH THE EU!

2000 is the second one, SimCity (Classic) is the first one, not sure about that one.

OK, found it - Interesting findings with simcity classic

So, both the Classic and the 2000 behave alike - FPU doesn't affect normal gameplay, but speeds up budget calculation.
