lvd scsi without twisted pair

Does an lvd scsi bus *require* a twisted pair cable? I've found a regular ribbon cable with an lvd terminator and it seems to negotiate and run fine. It's connected to an adaptec 2940u2w so it's a 80 mb/s bus and there's only 1 drive so i'm probably not stressing the bus too much. Should i keep running the bus in lvd or should i force it to SE?

Using a non twisted pair cable isn't going to stress anything electrically. There is just going to be a higher likelihood of data transmission errors.
If I'm not mistaken twisted pair cables were not a requirement until Ultra 160 and 320 speeds.

Are the aforementioned data transmission errors stuff that can/will get fixed or am i going to scratch my head thinking why random files are corrupted? It's good to know twisted pair cables are not strictly required but i don't know what to expect. I guess i'll keep using the setup and see if any issues pop up. Worst case scenario i'll set the drive to SE mode and it will be a 40 mb/s bus.

In my experience, your system logs will be filled with errors long before you start experiencing file system corruption.

Check your system logs if you are concerned. If you are running Windows, they can be looked up in Event Viewer.
