USB Drive Glue Project

There have been a number of glue topics. Most are about ABS. This one may be different.

Project is my old 1GB USB drive. I pried it open (note to self, use blow dryer next time) to get it repaired. Now it's in pieces. I don't want to use super glue because of how it causes the frosting mess on transparent plastic. The case is transparent. Also, I'm not really trying to weld it together. Together, yes. But not beyond being pried open again if need be. So it has to be clear and not super glue. Right now my choices are super glue and wood glue. Not really helpful.

I wonder what was originally used, since these pieces were glued together from the factory.

Also, little complication, the glue channel is extremely narrow, I can't exactly get globs of glue around here. Open to suggestions.

Try Super Glue Fix-ALL ($tree, ace hardware, etc). It is not regular superglue but more like old style model glue but remains somewhat flexible and cuttable.
Just use a toothpick and dab it in a few spots..

Contact cement, a safe solvent, and a small brush.

Mix a small amount of the cement with the solvent. Paint it in the channel. Let dry. Snap together.

These tend to be a 'sticky rubber' type stuff.

You only need a minuscule amount of CA glue to bond that in the manner you want, a dot in each corner or the middle of the sides is enough. Blooming shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't overdose and there's leftover glue not being enclosed in the recess when the shell is put together.

Also, the blooming occurs due to glue evaporating, reacting with air moisture, and settling on adjacent surfaces. CA activator will shorten the bonding time significantly, and give the glue less time to evaporate. If you somehow can ventilate the USB stick properly until the glue has bonded too, it'll help further.

Would guess it's possible to put that together using CA glue without a trace of any blooming.
