Just got an Inspiron 5000 for pretty cheap off ebay, but it seems to be dead as a doornail. At first, it would blink the battery LED continuously and not do anything, but now it seems to attempt to turn on for a split second? It makes a click and a static-like noise as if it was trying to do something. I pulled the CPU module out and it will power on without it, then i saw a wonderful burn mark on one of the Vcc lines, which makes me think that there is a short somewhere. Is it likely that it's just the MMC-2 module that failed, or is the whole system toast?
