I have a PCMIDI connected to my external synthesizer. It works fine when booting into Windows and also from DOS window within Windows. But after playing MIDI in the DOS window and closing it, I can no longer play music from Windows Media Player.

It seems that once the MPU-401 is captured by a DOS Window, it's never released back to Windows. Is there any way to release this capture without having to reboot the whole machine?
