Hi! I have a big problem building a 486 computer related with the height, in an at case.

If I use 6'33mm standoffs I can't install pci or simm cards because the L form of the bracket contacts with the area where I fix with the screws the card before inserts in pci/simm slot. However, if I use 10mm standoffs I can install pci or simm card without problems, but the din 5 connector is not aligned with the hole from chassis and I can't connect the ps2 keyboard adapter. With 6'33mm the din connector is aligned and I can connect the adapter narrowly, but ok.

I've been thinking but with a 8 mm standoff the results will be the same than 10mm.

I don't know what to do. That's the first time I've found an scenary like this. I'm trying modifying the L form so that I can connect the pci card but I don't know if it is the good way. I don't want to disolder the din connector and solder cables...

Any help is welcomed.

Thanks a lot.

Sometimes it's a case of loosen everything off, including screws that hold the case together and the motherboard tray on, if removable, and jiggle it until it fits. 1/4" or 6mm should be right unless somehow it's had the motherboard tray swapped from another case or it somehow fitted upside down, or it's slotted in wrong if screwless.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

I've solved the problem with 8mm standoffs. But now I am trying to set the fsb to 33Mhz in jp18. However my jp18 has only 4 pins and not 6. It's a Lucky star Ls486e Rev 1. This revision doesn't have manual...

It seems likely to me, that you would have the 1-2 of the 6 pin missing, of later revs, so your 1-2 = 3-4 and your 3-4 = 5-6.

But that means i can't set my fsb at 33 Mhz because 5-6 don't use in these manual to set fsb. It's always without jumper.

I must be looking at a different alternate version than you, the one I saw had settings over 50 on 1-2 and on the second 2 jumpers it was off off for 25, on on for 33, off on for 40 and on off for 50.

For that small a clearance difference, using a jig to polish/sand off the tops of the brass standoffs (please assure they all come out the same height!) Could get you there?

Gotcha!! 😀 😀 It is 1-2 on and 3-4 on. That matchs with the fsb jumper settings from Rev D of this motherboard.

Thanks Bitwrangler!!

Yess! I got the good height! It's 8 mm! I have to cut and polish a 10mm nylon standoffs and the screws so that I can fix them to the tray. Additionally, I've put hot glue to strengthen the points.
