Warning! AI (ChatGPT 6.1 Sol) was involved in the development!

If someone is interested based on the HDA2 sources a native Audigy 1, Audigy2/ZS driver has been made for Windows 3.1x.
Most likely the Audigy 4 Pro can also work with the Audigy2/ZS driver since it uses very similar hardware and PCI IDs.
Only Creative Audigy cards with EMU10K2-family chipset are supported so no SB Live! and Audigy LS/SE support.

The attachment Audigy1_Audigy2ZS_Win31_driver_v14.zip is no longer available

Source files and the driver binaries are included in the package. More info about the installation and usage can be found in the README.TXT file.
The source is supposed to be GPL 2.0 compatible but since the original HDA2 package has no explicit license the situation is not exactly clear...

Features:
- Playback: 8-bit or 16-bit, mono/stereo, 8000..48000 Hz.
- Recording: 16-bit mono/stereo at 8000, 11025, 16000, 22050, 24000, 32000, 44100 or 48000 Hz. 8-bit recording is not supported.
- Full-duplex playback and recording.
- Wave recording source is also available so you can record the card's own PCM playback.
- Front and rear analog outputs; rear speakers mirror stereo. Rear speaker's output can be adjusted separately or even can be muted.
- Selectable recording sources and input monitoring.
- Hardware 10-band equalizer and Room, Chamber, Plate and Hall reverb modes.
- Audio Mixer application for convenient access to driver controls.

Hardware MIDI synth is not implemented. For Midi playback WinGroove is recommended.

Can you also make a Windows 9x INF file for this? (or get ChatGPT to make one?)

I have an Audigy RX I'd like to try this with in Windows 98SE.
PCI Device ID is PCI\VEN_1102&DEV_0008

.386 driver files are pretty much .VXD files already so I think this driver should work in 98SE with the right INF.

MB: ASRock B550 Steel Legend
CPU: Ryzen 9 5950X
RAM: Corsair 64GB Kit (4x16GB) DDR4 Veng LPX C18 4000MHz
SSDs: 2x Crucial MX500 1TB SATA + 1x Samsung 980 (non-pro) 1TB NVMe SSD
OSs: Win 11 Pro (NVMe) + WinXP Pro SP3 (SATA)
GPU: RTX2070 (11) GT730 (XP)

Unfortunately not with the current driver or an INF alone. Reasons:

1. The current Audigy 2 diver will not recognize your RX. The Audigy 2 driver accepts 1102:0004, revision 4 to differentiate Audigy 2 from Audigy 1.
2. The Rx uses different routing registers and analog-output enable settings for the CA10300. Since I do not have one I have no chance to test it.

BTW, this is not a .386/vxd driver but a 16-bit installable Multimedia driver (a simple dll). Of course this does not prevent Win9x to use it.

What I suggest for you:
Download the Audigy 2 package and give it to ChatGPT/Claude to make and Audigy RX version for you that you can test on your hardware.

You do not need an INF file to use such drivers. You should use them exactly like the HDA2 driver was used on Win9x systems by some:
1. Copy your future AUDIGYRX.DLL to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.
2. Add these entries to the existing sections in SYSTEM.INI

[386Enh]
MaxPhysPage=8000 ; to limit Win9x to 128 MB

[drivers]
wave=AudigyRX.dll

@Edit:
Neither Claude nor ChatGPT will be able to compile the driver for you. You need Delphi 1 to compile the driver which has the advantage that you can use it on the very Win9x system that the driver will be written for:
https://winworldpc.com/product/delphi/1x
The driver is self-contained. You do not need any other installed components to compile it.
If you have problems you can report them here.
