First post, by Hamlet
hello!
nice to meet you all, especially those of you who are able to help me with this one little problem ive been having.
Well its with the game Sam n Max, you remember it, im sure. I've tried all the things i could think of and read all that i could find that might help, but nothing, i still get only the music, while the voice and fx remain disabled... i checked in the game, they say "disabled"... well im not a very smart guy, so now i bring it here and hope someone can find a way to help me.
here are some stats.
im on an ibm notebook sporting an intel (R) pentium (R) M 1.60 GHz and 248 mb ram, its got a SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio sytem, whatever that means and using integrated speakers, my computer uses windows xp profesional which it came with and im running the game through dosbox 0.63. The game as said before is Sam n Max Hit the road, and well i dont know what they call the version, but its a newer version that came with day of the tentacle on one cdrom and apearently also the first maniac mansion game integrated into game (day of the tentacle), i have run day of the tentacle, played it all the way through and had no problems with it at all, have only had problems with sam n max. Sam n max, unlike day of the tentacle can be run without the dosbox, through windows but then without sound at all, i also found that running it with the dosbox emulating sbpro as it was by default set to also gave no sound at all, however changin this to any of the other sound cards gave me music, but like i said, still no sfx or voices, they remain disabled, while i get no error message.
I tried reading the games manual, which told me that i had to set up the games sound which could be done by entering the configurations menu in the main menu, which i should see when opening the game, this however is not the case, the game starts emediately without letting me set it up... i have tried changin the soundcard emulation in the dosbox, however with only that half luck. i have tried reading every manual, every readme file, infact anything writen i could find that might hold the answer, even all the stuff online and in this forum that i could find, but nothing have seemed to help... the problem now persists and i dont know what to do, please help.
the following is a copy of my dosbox config file, as is, in case you need further information from that.
Thanks...... hamlet
