I do not know if this is game specific or not, as I only know of this game.
However, to install the game, I require Dosbox or some other form to simply run the installation program.

The self made installer works like this:
I type out the path where I want to install it.. or stick with the default,
and i'm given 2 buttons, one for minimal, the other full.

When I run the installer upon normal conditions, it works fine, but the install leaves me nothing but empty folders at the proposed place.

When I run under DosBox, I click inside the program (dosbox) and the white mouse will start moving around. However, I am unable to register selecting either form of install by clicking. As they aren't buttons selectable by keyboard, I am stuck.

Game in question. Star Command: Revolution.
OS: Windows XP
Graphics: ATI Radeon X600
Sounds: Sound Blaster LIVE
Pentium 4 3Ghz 512Ram
mouse - simple Dell USB ball mouse
not entirely sure what else I should say.

I've done some digging around in the forums, but i only find mouse MOVEMENT problems. My mouse appears to be perfectly fine for the installation, however... I can't click, and that big difference has made my searches in vain.

Have you tried if the problem persists while running some other program in DOSBox which ought to react to mouseclicks?

I.e. is this specific to the installer in question, or a general problem of your DOSBox installation?

Aye, it works (Star Trek 25th anniversary) but not for Star Command installation. The blighter won't work, so I tried a drastic measure.

without using DosBox, I did a manual install, I copied the whole CD onto the hardrive (considering old day installation technologies... I figured it would be the same thing...) But now I have a problem... Normal (non dosbox) game execution cant find the CDrom for me to play campaign mode, and i'm not sure how to set it up for Dosbox to run.

I've looked all over for any site concerning this old favorite of mine, but have found none, so i'm resorting to this.

Before you brand this as a purely game thread, I would like to know what I should do to access an executable on the harddrive, while having it search a CDrom properly. Not sure if i made myself clear, but the jargon makes me dizzy -_-... I request simplification.
