I've been using DoxBox for about a year now, and suddenly I'm having a strange sound issue. Here's what's up.
A few days ago I installed .65, ran DFend with it, figured out this was a bad idea, etc. Then I changed DFend back to the .63 version, and it's fine again.
That’s about when; I noticed this strange hardly audible sound when ever I opened a DosBox window. (It's low but very annoying.) It sounds almost like feedback on an open mike, and I’ve never noticed it before.
So, I uninstalled .65, then .63, put .63 back in, problem still there. Checked to be sure it wasn’t DFend, some how, by opening a CMD window and bringing up DoxBox, did the same with the shortcut set to start full screen, sound was still there. Went back to DFend and disabled sound, sound was STILL there, reached over and turned off my speakers, that killed it. :} Shut the PC down to cold, to make sure I forced the sound card, an Audigy Gamer, and the rest of the system to do a hardware reset. No dice.
Nothing, other then the .65 install has changed on this PC, and I was just playing Populus on it earlier that same day, and didn’t notice the sound then. (Not saying it wasn’t there but I didn’t notice it, where as now I can’t miss it.)
Problem occurs when ever I open a DoxBox window or full screen, it’s game and front end independent as it stats as soon as I type Doxbox and hit enter.
I'm running XP, fully updated as of 04/01/06. Video is a BFG 6800 GT driver 84.3 , sound is Audigy Gamer running the lastest driver, 5.12.8.1164
Any thoughts would be most welcome.
