I'm using a USB Playstation controller adapter much like this. DOSBox sees Port 2 as Joystick 1 and Port 1 as Joystick 2; the control panel and all other programs see them correctly. The lone joystick setting does nothing. The keymapper doesn't work whether joysticks or scancodes are enabled or not (or maybe it's really mapping keys to pad buttons, not the other way around like it should). What can I do, short of rearranging the pads whenever I use DOSBox?

The joystick/keymapper bug is one of the longest standing issues in DosBox. I tried to fix it myself in the code (in sld_mapper.cpp), but unfortunately I lack sufficient knowledge to do so. See also this post and this topic.
