Hey, I'm hoping you can help me out with a problem I've encountered running VDMSound in DOS 6.22. Running dosdrv.exe or vdmsrun.bat causes a system hang after the line "Loading 'VDDLoader.dll'...". The cursor continues to blink on the following line but doesn't respond to keyboard input.

I'm running an Athlon XP1900+ on an Epox 8KHA+, with 512MB DDR@2100, Geforce 2 TI 64MB, SB Live Value, DOS 6.22. My startup files call MSCDEX for a Creative 16x DVD loaded as a simple CD Drive, load smartdrv and a mouse driver called CuteMouse.

This may be a problem already addressed somewhere else on the boards or in the help files, but I haven't had any luck in finding it. Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks,
Jay

Are you asking why DOSDRV.EXE does not work in DOS? If so then this is because VDMSound is for Windows 9x (the ALPHA ver) and for Windows NT4/2K/XP. This program is a sound card emulator that passes the sound information to your sound card drivers. To use a sound card emulator under DOS the program must first actually support DOS (Which VDMSound does not) and the program must also have a driver interface to the sound card hardware.
