I wasn't sure where to post this..

Is it possible? My (and AFAIK every) computer only has a primary and secondary controller and each has a master and a slave. I have 2 HDs and a DVD burner and CD/RW burner. The thing is my DVD burner drive doesn't read a lot of DVDs very well (though it is just fine at burning). I have another DVD drive but I don't want to remove anything that's in there right now. So I want to had my 2 HDs, CD burner, DVD burner, and DVD drive. Is that possible somehow? Are there controller cards you can buy to give you a third IDE controller? If not then why do soem computers have 4 or more slots for drives??

I think that you can buy a card to add more IDE devices... Though I have never needed it, so I have never tried it.

definitely. You just need to pick up a PCI IDE card. Make sure it supports ATAPI if you want to put optical drives on it.

Anyone have a guesstimate as to how much these go for?

If you have a system with PCI slots, you can get decent PCI IDE controller add-on cards. There are a few brands out there, but the only one I've used is Promise, which seems decent.
