Is it possible that I could get it to run on Windows 3.1, using the PC speaker driver?

probably again, no. if it accesses the pc speaker I *think* it will access them but as you can't use the pc speakers as sound device in Windows you can't use them with VDMS.

Oh, I see. But i thought I remember reading in the manual that you don't necessarily need a sound card or something or other?

of course you don't need a sound card, the games are happy with the card VDMS emulates. But to actually HEAR the games you need one.
