Ofcourse i know about source ports and zdaemon/skulltag servers. And chocolate-doom too.
I mean multiplayer in vanilla doom (original dos .exe) with tcp/ip over internet.
Current classic doom community not in my interests anymore. He moving in wrong direction in my opinion. And i back to oldskool doom gaming much often. More and more.
Now i searching for some vanilla doom players like me.
I'm connecting to internet in '97. At this time probably all doom internet services is closed - only Kali is living today. But i prefer masterserver independent way to playing. I think tcpsetup or ifrag provide this.

Anyone who know how it works and want to remember these good old days of dwango services and early internet gaming - let me know.

Why not simply play a classic doom match/coop game using old settings? Zdaemon allows server-side options to mimmic the DOS Doom perfectly. You can remove mouselook, jumping, enable auto aim and everything else.

If you ever want to play that way, ask me. 😀 I play Zdaemon all the time in custom servers, but I'm always up for a true classic game. However I don't bother with ancient programs or arcane methods of getting a game to work, when an easy and user friendly one already exists.

Even though 90% of players on Zdaemon play on custom wads and options, that doesn't mean the port itself is incapable of mimmicing the dos doom in modern O/S over TCP/IP play. Hook up with me if you want and I'll prove it to you, classic co-op or DM is great fun.

My Zdaemon account is 'avatar_58', so add me if you decide to take me up on it.

That's right. Zdaemon is the way to go for online multiplayer Doom. I also play on it a lot. 😀 In addition to all the classic old school options it offers there's also a really cool new ctf mode which can be quite fun for a change.

I would enjoy playing with you, avatar_58. 😉

I've been off it for awhile, but what is your nickname via Zdaemon?

If you own a 360, DOOM has been released over Xbox Live. 😉 Theres a great way to play vanilla doom, although I don't own one and don't plan on it.

From the Xbox Live Arcade site:

Next-generation features: With 1080i HD support, 5.1 Surround Sound, and smooth textures, this is DOOM for the next generation.

heh.

Yes, it’s my fault.

ZDoom already supports all that, but I still think releasing this Doom version for PC (with internet play) would be a better deal than the outdated collection they put out awhile back.
