hello there...
i want to play the sweet ass pinball mania by 21st century entertainment... so there are some threads about this but they don't help me at all because i have not dealt with the whole dosbox thing all too much so i just need some help... i can install it and set the sound right i guess (running setsound.exe) but then when i want to start the game there is no start. it doesn't crash either, it merely goes back to the short comman line e:\Mania\ and there is no error message whatsoever.. so is there any way you guys could help me out with this? cuz i know you guys are pros
thanks
Marius from Germany

Yes, sounds a bit odd. Did you try installing it onto an emulated c:\something
instead of e:\something ?
Also what OS are you on, and what dosbox version do you have installed?

I have the same problem. Dreams, Dreams2, Illusion and Fantasy runs well under Dosbox 0.70. It's a problem with High Memory? There are 64k in original Dos and only 63k in Dosbox.
Thanks for Help

Well then dos cheats because somewhere in the block it has to store
the size so it's below 64k for sure.

Try without sound and stuff (ems/xms disabled, install within dosbox...)

The Pinball Mania you have is the one that comes in the package with Pinball Fantasies?

I test it without sound, xms and ems. The same problem. Mania comes on the cd with dreams, fantasy and illusion (21stcentury).

Try mounting the cdrom in the a: insteed of the d: and install the game inside dosbox. Plus you have to make a c:\ where put the game data to install, that pinball games allways requieres a directory over c:\ like c:\21stcent.

Remember this a cheaply made game. I got a new copy of the game for 5 dollars at future shop as they used to sell a lot of the classics published by softdisk for really cheap. Strike base and pinball mania were gotten for cheap. This was sometime around 2000-2002. The Future shop i go to no longer sells very cheap games that cost less than ten bucks.

I went to the learning companies website and they said that if you see the spider web logo on your desktop than that means you have a corrupted file and that you have to go and delete mania restore or something like that and change your background. Learning company owned 21 century. This was before everyone knew about dosbox. I had the logo stuck on my desktop.
