I'm still using a large suite of dbaseII programmes (which I wrote twenty five years ago!) to run my business records.
Like other posts I've seen I've forgotten most of what I once knew about dbaseII.
I keep a dos machine just for this purpose. Worried about what to do when it expires I've just found Dosbox and installed it pretty painlessly. I copied and inserted my autoexec.bat and config.sys contents directly into dosbox.conf without any modification. Wordstar, Supercalc, Xtree (remember?) which are all used by the suite fired immediately.
Just when I thought I'd done it in one DbaseII throws up the error message: 'OVERLAY FILE (DBASEOVER.COM) CANNOT BE OPENED IN DOSBOX' and won't open. It was write protected but I still get the same message if I un-protect it.
Looks like I'm on the edge of a quick success if I can find out how to solve this one - I'll be very grateful if anyone can offer any ideas.
