Was checking out my compatibility list tonight and noticed that I've tested 963 games in DosBox! This isn't counting the times I've tested the games over and over and over again or the games that I haven't added to the list yet either.....

Pretty scary.

Looking at my list:

945 Games "Just work"
4 Games have problems
14 Do Not Work

Still tons of testing to do since I haven't done much multiplayer testing and I need to go back through the list to verify that each game still works. No doubt they all will since there really hasn't been much complaining about DosBox breaking things lately.

Thinking about sticking NES/SNES emulators into the DosBox category pretty soon.

I think that your compatibility list could totally replace the games list on the main site. That list is messy and needs to be reorganized better and updated.

Nah, The way DosBox is currently displayed on my list it's showing the latest CVS and then the results listed below. Problem is that I didn't test all of those games with the CVS ver I display...

Plan to change this with the next official ver when I'll slowly go through and test each and every game with the newest official ver. I was thinking about going back and testing previous official builds and displaying them on the list but there's no point since all the games that I own work fine in the latest CVS.....it would only be for comparison's sake to go back through earlier versions (it wouldn't help for compatibility sake which is most important).

Although there is the fact that the many ports of DosBox use older versions of the DosBox CVS......nope...no way. I am....not....going....to...test...older...versions...Nooooooo! AAAaaahh! Nope. Definetly not. Mind made up. 😀

I believe I have seen a compatibility list that includes NES and SNES games and other ROMs on it, counting them as unique games. I believe that they should not be counted along the true DOS games. These are not DOS games, and you don't need DOS to play them. All of these games must be played by emulators, which need not be system-specific. In fact, most DOS emulators have been superceeded by Windows emulators. The ability of these games to run depends on the quality of emulator and the ROM image. I think it would be better to list the emulators in a separate category and describe how well DOSBox runs them.

Dosfreak, in your original thread you state that you need "an excel viewer" to view your compatibilty list. This is not necessary. The list can easily be opened using open office.

Yeah, originally I had mentioned OpenOffice in that post but it was a waste of space. If your using Linux then I'd hope you know how to view an excel fileand of course OpenOffice is usually installed by default anyway.

Windows users aren't that bright so I had to mention the Office Excel viewer. 😀

Fixed the link by the way.

Make it "Windows-only users" and I will agree as well.
