You can use a USB keyboard with DosBox on a real PC. Theoretically it should work for Pocket PC but I've never tried it. If your Pocket PC works fine with the keyboard then so should DosBox.

I am afraid there is not much to do about the text fonts. Here is a screenshot from v. 0.61 of DOSBox PPC:

This post was from a while back. Have you heard anything recently regarding whether a USB keyboard is used on pocket PCs?

A separate USB keyboard can be attached to a laptop for larger keys.
