DOSBox umb=max?

Recently I found a thread mentioning that umb needed to be set to max and ems to off.

I've searched the documents for this, but didn't find it.
The readme only mentiones -set "dos ems=off" saying it turns off ems emulation.
Googled for it and only found three sites showing conf files with it, but not explaining it or mentioning the DOSBox version.
The wiki was also no luck.

Now I was wondering, what values can the ems, xms and umb parameters hold? Can these parameters also hold values like in DOSBox 0.58, the quantity of memory. And is "off" the same as "false"?

This is the thread mentioning it.
T2 - The Arcade Game

Does this apply for DOSBox 0.65, the CVS or both? And the other DOSBox versions?

Maybe we should alter the Readme a bit mentioning it, or maybe the conf file.

Erik.

In 0.65 umb=max + ems=false is needed for two games (maybe more).
But it's obsolete.

xms/ems can only be true/false as the amount of memory is a separate parameter.

Ah so for people using DOSBox 0.65 two games need the max thingy. But using the latest CVS it isn't needed?

Next version neither needs it nor provides this option.
