OP asks what's the difference between the modes and a commenter posts about his CGA game looking different when DosBox set to VGA and then set to CGA.

Anyone have the time to explain the differences and what DosBox does for this game?

There is so much misleading information and lack of information on that page I would hardly know where to begin. I could always send him my "A Primer on PC Hardware" but it lacks visual examples.

Dunno but seems just like different palette, which is a result from the
vga bios/regs NOT being fully cga-compatible. Not a dosbox problem.
