I installed Darklands into D:\Games\Darklands. Then I installed VDMSound into C:\Program Files\VDMSound. Now I want to put a shortcut on my desktop which executes both VDMSound and Darklands (Darkland.exe) together. What should I do?

Right-click on the startup (be it executable or batch file), go with the default configuration for right now. Click finish.
Quit the game immediately. You will see a .VLP file created by VDMSound. You can right-click on it to get its properties and make any needed adjustments (for example, increasing the AdLib (FM) synthesis from 11025 to 44100 for cleaner FM audio), click the OK's and get out. The VLP file will act as the shortcut for both.
Copy it to wherever you need it...
That's provided you have the Launchpad. You DO have the LaunchPad, right? 😉
