windows 2000 periodically crashes with nv4_disp bsod, seems to be driver issue but using 94.24, maybe it needs xp?

Great! You are really game maniac 😀 But I think your the most powerful PC is Athlon 3000+ and 6800GT - it's not so cool, what about upgrade video and CPU? (or at least not extreme overclocking? )

Thanks for the link, I'm trying them now. So far so good, wow gives a few glitches but I'm told we were getting those already. No crashes yet, so fingers crossed.

The Win7 machine would run better with more RAM.

Yes I'm pretty happy with that. I have an MT32 that I was going to use with it but I don't have many games that need it, plus I'm not sure how to use it yet.

I may have a go at that when I can afford it, dual channel 2x2gb I expect, though as it's Win 7 64-bit I suppose I could go higher. Will that have more impact than moving to a faster chip, say E7500 [which is about the fastest affordable chip that the motherboard will take according to asrock specs]?

From the asrock website, the 4coredual-sata2 can only take up to 2gb, so i won't be upgrading the ram after all.

In the main post you've written that your Windows 7 machine has a Gigabyte mobo, but on the other post it says Asrock. Wich one is right?

I made a mess of the posts, so I've edited the first post to remove the erroneous info. Currently the 7 box has the asrock mobo.
