I run the game with VDm Sound (alone in the dark 1) and everything begins n icely then at the top of the black screen appears Error: No Cd detected, No Cd-rom drivers. Clearly the Cd is in the drive, i tried changing the path and command line of the program files to those on the Cd so it actually had to run the game from the Cd but it still doesnt work. It works without VDM sound perfectly though.

You have to ENABLE LOW-LEVEL CD-ROM SUPPORT in the Launchpad.

You start by going to this thread and getting the Launchpad. Then you right-click on the game you want to run and choose "Run with VDMS" with a music notes icon next to it. Then go through the tabs, I don't recall which one it's on, and it should clearly say "Enable low-level CD-ROM support (MSCDEX)". Check the checkbox, and you're on your way.
If that doesn't work, you may need SAPUCDEX.
