Hello, I'm new to DOS Box and have Windows Vista (home basic). I am trying to play Timeslaughter and Excecutioners on my Vista, but have no idea where to start on DOS Box. I have read a few tutorials on using DOS Box, but only found ones for XP that didn't work the same on Vista. If someone could give me where to install DOS Box to, the version to install to play the games, where to install the games to, and what to type in DOS Box to bring up those games, that'd be AWESOME. I'm sorry about needing all of this info, but if you have Vista and can help, please do! 😀

Thanks for your time!!!

It's not that it doesn't work, it's the fact that I don't know how to make it work and all of the tutorials I've read are for XP, not Vista.

I have read an XP tutorial, but can't do it because it requires storing DOS Box in Documents and Settings, but I don't have that on Vista. There are several other problems I encounter that I can't remember right now too. I'd downgrade to XP but it'll cost me 200 bucks. I hate Vista so much. It has nothing that XP doesn't already have and it's a Nazi about not letting you access font files and other stuff you really need when using various programs.

You do have Documents and Settings in Vista, it's just that it's a redirect to your \users folder.

Any path specified for \Documents and Settings should redirect to the equivalent folder in \users.

Ex:
C:\Documents and Settings\username\documents
redirects to
c:\users\username\documents

With that said why are you putting DosBox in your Documents folder anyway? Create a DosBox folder in "C:\", stick DosBox in it, modify permissions on the DosBox folder to give users full access. Put your games in the folder. Modify dosbox.conf autoexec section to automount the folder or use a frontend like DBGL or DOG.

That's as much help as I'll provide on the subject.
