I have it enabled on my graphics card on opengl and direct3d. but i keep getting screentear galore when i play tie-fighter it makes it totally unplayable. i have an ati x1650se. any help appreciated, im new to this and im using the d-fend front end.

DosBox doesn't uses D3D or OGL unless you configure them to use those in dosbox.conf. By default dosbox uses "surface" which I think is GDI.

You can try changing your refresh rate or you can change DosBox to use OpenGL. (If you want D3D you'll have to download gulikoza or yhkwong's builds of DosBox).

The problem is tie fighter...which does not use vsync. It is even more visible since the game only updates about 1/3 of the screen each frame. There's nothing you can do.
