I apologize in advance as I am definitely new to all this. I thought I had the game set to work, as a friend of mine told me he got the game working by using dosbox. I followed the following instructions:

Download and install the lastest version of DOSbox.
Create a new folder for your old games, like C:\OldGames. (For safety, keep all folder names less than 9 characters long.)
Make one folder in OldGames for each game and copy that game's files there.
Launch DOSbox and have it mount this folder as a virtual C:\ drive by typing "mount C C:\oldgames".
You'll get a Z:\ prompt. Type "C:" to go to your new virtual drive. You should see all the folders you created above.
If your old game came on a CD-ROM, next type "mount D x:\ -t cdrom", replacing the "x" with the letter of your CD drive. You can get more help from DOSbox by typing "intro cdrom".

But when I typed in the exe file, I got an error message that said that the program must be run under Microsoft Windows.. So yeah, now I don't know what I should do.. Any help would be appreciated.. I'd imagine it's a very simple problem.. but I'm really not good with this stuff..

It just says Clue on it. There's three CDs to it: Deadly Patent, Blackmail and The Road to Damascus. By Hasbro Interactive.

It's not any of the typical Clue games; it looks like an attempt at an FMV game. I found some info on it here (fifth game on the page):

To answer your question, the game was released at the end of 1996, so it should at least be Windows 95 compatible; you shouldn't need DOSbox at all.
