I recently dug up my ancient collector's edition of Star trek Judgement rites and was trying to run it on my Windows XP system.
It didnt run under WinXP, something about no EMS memory under the DOS prompt. So I heard of VDMS from a buddy of mine and gave it a shot, figuring that getting the games sound to work without such a utility would probably be a nightmare anyhow.
Using the default settings, the VDMS loader pops up, goes to a black DOS screen, flashes some loading text, then I get a black screen.
ANd i checked the settings, its set to 4mb of EMS memory.
Why the black screen??
edit, i will add that its not a problem with the game reading off the CD, which it does. if i try to run it without the CD, it will give me an appropriate error message (General data failure reading D:, abort retry, fail?). In any case i have low-level CD support checked and low-level VESA support also checked.
