There has been some mention of exporting profiles from your two frontends, even standardizing the format (perhaps in XML). This could address a few issues. It could simplify helping a DOSBox newbie to get some games going. It could encourage the use of DBGL and D.O.G.. It might also help transition stubborn D-fend users to a modern frontend.

If there were features supported by one frontend, but not the other, the one missing the feature could ignore it, but keep it in the profile so that if it were later imported back the frontend that has the feature, it could use it.

I imagine that the biggest problem of importing to a new machine would be the difference in a game's location from one machine to another. What I propose is a "browse to game's folder" function in the import process. When importing a profile, the frontend would simply have the user browse to the game's folder on their computer. This could be much like the browse feature of many installers when not installing an application in the default folder.

Other frontends could adopt the standard, too. This might make the profiles platform independent.
