Hi all, I am trying to network an old strategy game called M.A.X. (Mechanized Assault and Exploration) but when I want to host a network game it asks me to please insert the CD.

I don't have the CD, I only have the unpacked items on my c drive.. What should I do? Thanks!

I got a zipfiel with the unpacked files from a friend (normally need to run the installer from the cd).

So I am thinking that even if I would burn these unpacked files on cd the game would not recognize it as the orginal cd.. but I have no idea..

Well if the game *needs* the cd and you don't have it, you're out
of luck anyways. Otherwise you can try something like "mount d c:\oldstuff\maxcd -t cdrom"

well actually, to really make it clear.. I am not even sure if I lost the cd, I have been living in bangkok for the last two years and the cd is probably somewhere in my house back in amsterdam.. but that doesnt really help me..- if i still have it.

Anyway can someone help me witht the problem? Would be really appreciated!! thanks in advance 😀

Would that mean that i mount the folder in which I have the game files as a cd drive? cause i have tried that.. only in my case the folder is c:\max . you are tlaking about that right?

As far as i know the game only "needs" the cd the verify ownership. When I used to play it on multiple computers it also worked.

Well it depends on what it needs from the cd. If it's just some files, then mounting
the directory that contains the full cdrom-contents will suffice, if it directly reads
out sectors you need the real thing (or an image of it).
