I´d thank you for some tips how to run the game Bioforge ( Origin 1995 ) under Win XP Home.
When I try to install the game with VDMS DOS always tells me that Drive M is not available ( though the CD is in Drive L ).

Odds are, it has issues with more than one CD drive. Some early CD games have that problem.
Microsoft knowledge article for Windows 95 notes this:
Bioforge by Origin
Executable: BIOFORGE.EXEBioforge makes incorrect assumptions about the system memory configuration when Windows 95 is running. This causes it to fail to detect most of the memory installed in the computer. It must be run in MS-DOS mode.
I think it's using VCPI, which would make it near-impossible to run within Windows. Still checking...
Found out that Bioforge won´t run with a FAT 32 partition. On a P166 system with a SB16 ISA & DOS 7 ( bootet DOS-Mode of Win 95 ) the games starts without any problems.
I think FAT32 isn't the problem but Windows.

It's not. I was able to get it running on a FAT32 partition. I couldn't get audio working though. Don't know if that was because of particular issue with my soundcard or if it just needs an ISA soundcard.
