Yeah, this one needs "real" emulation.
Needs protected mode, but can only use it's own custom memory manager, just as HunterZ said. The worst of both worlds. "Ultima VII" does this as well. In Zone66's case, however they didn't just" hit the hardware", but repeatedly smacked it with a clawhammer. Like a lot of European Amiga titles, they trash part of the OS to gain performance. Supposedly can't be run on a Pentium, but I don't think that's true.
