Hi. Ok, first of all this game once worked fine when I used Dosbox 0.63 last year, but then I've since lost the cd, but I copied the files and put them first onto an iso and then made a new cd, which didn't solve the problem, and sadly I don't have the original dosbox config file from when I got it to work. (I'm doing this so that my kids will have this game, not just because I'm a nut 😁 )
Dosbox .63 says "Fatal Signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed), VDM Sound failed to get sound blaster's compatible's interrupts or DMA running, but on Dosbox 0.72 everything works fine except..

If the image doesn't load, the mouse "drags" (leaving a trail that sticks), frames stick or flash, and the screen is separated into bars 64 pixels high.
The game could be 448x320 or 640x480 (the color problems are only on past frames, new frames color are fine). I tried changing most of the options in the config, and it needs vma and xms, the other options did nothing (one at a time). All "output" (surface, opengl) worked the same.
Other than that, sound, animations (as far as I can tell), color (except past frames), and clicking all work. The only problem is that.. problem. And that's only if I move the mouse, otherwise the middle bar looks fine except skipping frames and sometimes flashing between them.
The game's "Are you Afraid of the Dark: Orpheo's Curse," my computer's an HP, AMD Turion 64, 1.59 GHz, 992 MB RAM.
With the original cd (which I copied all the files from), everything worked fine on .63, and this is the only problem with using it on .72.
🤑 update: I solved this problem. The game came with programs to set the drivers that I have to run before I run the game. For future reference, this is what I did; adjust accordingly:
c:\>F:\
F:\cd f:\drivers
F:\DRIVERS>sbopl2
F:\DRIVERS>sbvol
F:\DRIVERS>sbwave
F:\DRIVERS>cd f:\
F:\>univbe
F:\>c:\
Anyone know how to have it do these steps automatically, by any chance? 😎
