😖 Glidos (1.40) crashes when trying to run Tomb Raider I on an ATI AiW x800 video card, get a "Read Failure" every time I start TRI in OpenGL. No combination of settings helped, found a thread about turning off SmartShader but could not figure out how to do that.😕

MB: Asus K8N-E Deluxe
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Memory: 2GB
Video: ATI All-in-Wonder x800 AGP
Sound: Integrated Realtek ALC850
OS: Windows XP SP2

What about when Glidos is set to use DirectX?

Do you have drivers for the X800 direct from ATI, or the one's that Windows installs?

My old computer has an X800, so I know that there is no problem specific to that card.

I reinstalled Glidos and now it starts in Direct3D. I would still like to run it in OpenGl to take advantage of the new texture files and smoother graphics.

The graphic drivers are the latest from ATI.

That's weird. Try using VDos32. You just download it to your Glidos folder, and then configure Glidos (under the DOS tab) to use it.

I installed the VDos32, TRI will start and I can hear the audio but no graphics in OpenGL, program soon crashes. In Direct3D, TRI runs until I get PollAudio errors.

I get a white screen then a crash using OpenGL. I am running an ATI 9800 pro with the catalyst 7.12 driver. I have heard some AGP cards have problems with the newer drivers, FierceGeek, is your X800 AGP or PCI express?

Where do you see these PollAudio errors reported?

It sounds like your whole system is unstable. You could try running Orthos. That will show up any problems in the area of CPU or memory.

It works!!! Rolled back ATI drivers to 7.8, and TRI runs fine in OpenGL, although the graphics don't look any better than what I saw in Direct3D. Thanks for all the help.
