I am running WinXP with a sound blaster live!

When I start the game I have speech, but as soon as the initial introduction is done and I start playing the speech is gone and is replaced by the written dialog.

I have downloaded the roland patch. I tried both SCUMMVM and VDM but same problem on both.

Any suggestions?
