I have been trying to play Master of Magic on DosBOX and am a little confused on how I am suppose to configure the sound with the game. When I run the Install.exe there is a configuration prompter but in all honesty I don't get what to do. Any suggestions?

Usually game sound is split into 2 parts:

1) Music
2) Sound effects (foot steps, guns, doors closing) - sometimes called Sound FX.

Different PC hardware was/is used to produce the sound, and DOSBox emulates a lot of those.

My personal preferences is to use the (emulated) MPU-401 device for sound, and SoundBlaster 16 for sound effects.

Sometimes MIDI is nice for music, sometimes I have to choose SoundBlaster II, Pro or something else for effects.

Normally, after choosing a sound device, you will have to specify additional information (some obscure numbers) for things like IO, DMA, ports, etc, etc. Try to simply go with the defaults, or if the game has it, use its auto-detection feature. After selecting the setup values, you will usually hear a piece of test-music. If the test sounds OK, you are done. If not, then you will have to look in your DOSBox Preferences file and see which values you have to use for those IO-ports, DMA-channels, etc.
