Ive got everything installed and got some games to work but alot of the games are really really slow, I have a new computer and thought it would makes the games if anything really fast. But they are painfully slow, is there anything I can do to speed it up?

DOSBox 0.72
Its a Inspiron 9400, 2GB ram, 2.0 Dual core processors
I cant remember all the games i tried out, but one of them was Veil of Darkness, those type of games

Veil of Darkness came out in 1993 so it may be a real mode game if so then DosBox does not use auto-cycles so you'll have to use Ctrl+F11/F12 manually. (F11 to decrease cycles and F12 to increase).

It's in the README in the Start Menu under the DosBox heading.

The description of your computer looks like you are perhaps having Vista. If this is right and if you have started with the default dosbox.conf your problem is perhaps this line:

output=surface

Vista uses an other way of screen buffering (making some Delphi programs flicker when resizing and making especially fadeing in DOSBox slow). You can try "overlay" instead of "surface" which has solved this problem with nearly all slow games for me.

Oops my bad sorry forgot to mention my OS, and no its not Vista, I got rid of that piece of garbage about a week after I got my computer, im running XP
