beeper sound? Are you wanting to hear PC speaker sounds instead of adlib?

What have you tried?
Isn't there some kind of sound setup program? Maybe part of the install program?

Or maybe ScummVM?

Um does scummvm support sound capturing?

Reading what was posted so far, I was actually wondering what sound capturing had to do with anything.

Don't a lot of chipsets support "WhatUHear" recording these days?

Nono... I wanted to actually hear the ORIGINAL DOS SOUND (beeper) at the intro where the monkeys are dancing.

Then, with great DOSBox, capturing with crtl+f6 the sound of it. The sound is NOT the original, when I start DOSBox. It always sound like a big orchestra is playing those sounds...

weird. Please help me out how to configure DOSBox the right way to actually make the sound genuine! 😀

Yeah, it's not the original sound, we check if monkey.exe is executed and
then start a massively-orchestrated playback of a piece played by the
london symphony orchestra.
Sounds quite cool imo, but if you don't like it, maybe remember that the pc where
you played monkey island back in the days had no or a really crappy soundcard.

Well, I don know where you played monkey 2, but on a 386 pc it should only come sound out of the speaker. Actually, if I wanted to emulate the speaker with dosbox, the changes are not even noticeable. SPEAKER - means quality beeping sound. like, ummm lets say, yeah like in Prince Of Persia 2. If I remember it correctly, DOSBox actually started the game POP2 just like it should - but it does NOT the job for Monkey Island 2!

It does the job just fine. Just because you had a crappy pc back then
doesn't mean dosbox should default to the same crappyness.

If you'd read what ElPusher wrote you might get a step further.

Funk, it is the game, not DOSBox, that determines what kind of sound you hear. If the game tells DOSBox "Use the SoundBlaster", then DOSBox will use its SoundBlaster emulation. If the game says "Use the tiny PC-speaker", DOSBox will do its best to emulate a tiny PC-speaker.

So you have to tell the game what you want it to do (*hint: read what eL_PuSHer wrote*)

Or disable the sound devices you don't want
