Having difficulties getting Zool 2 to work with DosBox, keeps telling me;
Can't open file 'ZOOL2.DAT'
I've been following the DOSBox tutorial on this site and it's the issue that keeps popping up.

I'm running Zool 2 from a purchased legal copy, by Sold Out Software, which states it is made for Windows 95/98. I am currently running Windows Vista (New pc, go figure).
1. Motherboard - Uncertain, it's a pre-built model I bought from a shop
2. Processor type and speed - AMD Athlon 64bit (x2)
3. Amount and type of RAM - It has 2056Mb RAM, I don't know what type
4. Video board w/ RAM amount and type - The Athlon again? Don't know
5. Sound board - God knows
6. Operating system - Windows Vista
7. Game name (and version, if applicable) - Zool 2, Sold Out Software release, official purchased copy on CD-ROM.
8. Description of problem (be detailed: saying "it's jerky" doesn't help, saying "the player sprites seem to be jerky when I'm pressing any of the arrow keys" does) -
Can't install from the CD as it comes up with the usual Vista problem of "Does Not Support Full Screen Mode" just appears, as such I'm trying to run from the disc. Followed the DOSBox tutorial to the point of actually starting up the game, where it comes up with the message "Can't open file ZOOL2.DAT" and on the status window it says "Please remove write-protection" underneath repeating that it can't open Zool2.DAT
I can't get the files off the disc using the install in order for me to make that file write-enabled.

9. Reproducibility of problem (always, only once, always but only on a specific level, etc.) Constantly

12. Version of emulator (for VDMSound, probably 2.0.4 or 2.1.0; for DOSBox, 0.58+) 0.72, the latest from the website, downloaded today.

13. Steps already attempted to solve the problem.
Attempted install several ways, but I'm none too good at computers really so each failed, attempted to make the E:\ the mount for the game but the DAT error occurs.

Anybody able to tell me where I'm going wrong? The website says that Zool 2 is fully compatible with the latest version of DOSBox and I've followed the tutorial several times as strict to each letter as I can >.<

It is seldom a good idea to install in Windows and run from DOSBox.

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.
