Alien Logic: No Sound

I can't seem to get the sound working on Alien Logic. I have the original CD and the game seems to run fine, but there's no sound, from the CD (there's supposed to be CD music as well as game sounds) or otherwise. When the game first loads, I can hear a few clicks, like the sound is being initialized, but nothing after that. I've tried changing the IRQ/DMA #s just to see, but to no avail. Any suggestions?

EDIT:
I am using v0.72 of DOSBox and have patched Alien Logic up to 1.02 (the "latest").

One other observation: when I tried to reinstall, I got a message saying "FILES=7 detected in your config.sys. Alien Logic requires FILES =60. Could that be the problem? How does one change that value without a config.sys file?

I don't think the FILES=7 is a problem.

Which OS are you on, and how did you mount the CD ?

Thanks for the reply! I'm using XP, and I tried a few different methods of CD mounting: using D-Fend, I added a CD drive mapped to my actual CD-ROM drive (containing the original Alien Logic CD) and also mapped to a folder on my hard drive containing the contents of the CD. In any case, there is a command line switch for Alien Logic that allows you to disable the CD music, but I still don't have regular, non-CD sounds (which I know should exist). In the end, I'd like to have both, I'd settle for one, but presently have neither.

don't use dfend. (It's horribly outdated as it isn't maintained anymore)
Try DBGL or so.

And you mounted it with the -t cdrom option?

From the config file:

mount F "F:\" -t cdrom -IOCTL -label ALIEN_LOGIC

I've also tried straight DOSBox - same thing. I'm unfamiliar with DBGL?

well mount F f:\ just sounds incompatible

why not mount it to D as dosgames usually expect a harddrive called C and a CDROM drive called D
