Received from a friend a Super Socket 7 mobo, with a K6-2/500 cpu.
Mobo: Aristo AM-954, VIA MVP3 chipset.
This is WIP, so I still have to find some suitable components. Like:
- 8-10-20 Gb ATA hard disk. I have a 9.1 UW SCSI, together with an Adaptec 2940UW controller, but this one sounds like a helicopter.
- 16-32 Mb AGP 2X video card. For now I have 2 ATI's, a Rage IIC with 4 Mb, and a Rage Pro Turbo with 8 Mb. I regret giving away some video cards I had, like a PCI, 4 Mb nVidia RIVA 128 based Miro card, a 16 Mb ATI Rage 128GL and a 32 Mb Leadtek S325 with nVidia TNT2 M64. Especially the last 2 would have been a match made in heaven with the mobo+cpu.
- at least one 128 Mb SDRAM DIMM - for the moment I have 2x32, and this is a ridiculous size, since even on a Pentium MMX based system I have 128 Mb.
- For audio, one of my Aureal Vortex cards should do just fine, if not I still have a SB Live! around.
Y2K box: AMD Athlon K75 (second generation slot A)@700, ASUS K7M motherboard, 256 MB SDRAM, ATI Radeon 7500+2xVoodoo2 in SLI, SB Live! 5.1, VIA USB 2.0 PCI card, 40 GB Seagate HDD.
WIP: external midi module based on NEC wavetable (Yamaha clone)
