Need help runnung wordstar 5.5 in DOSBOX (Win XP SP2)

Hi,

I know that this is a forum primarily for running old DOS games.

But this is really important to me, as my productivity is down to 10% without using wordstar.

I have wordstar5.5, and my os is Win XP SP2.

When I use cmd.exe, I can run wordstar, but I don’t get the full screen, even at the lowest resolution.

So I tried using DOSBOX v0.72.

The wordstar files are located in the c drive under c:\ws5

I am mounting with the command
Mount c c:\ws5

Wordstar does start, but then gives the following message and quits:

Can’t open c:PREVIEW.OVR
Can’t open c:FONTID.CTL
Can’t open c:WSMSG.OVR

Can someone help please ?

You have 2 options:

1) Instead of mount c c:\ws5, do a mount c c:\. Not recommended, and you will get a warning from DOSBox.

2) Copy everything in the C:\WS5 folder into a new folder, e.g. C:\DOSBOX\WS5, and then do a mount C "C:\DOSBOX" in DOSBox.
