Hi,

I'd like to run Rayman 1 under Windows XP with DosBox 0.72. In the game I can hear the music but no soundeffects.

My system:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
Sound onBoard activated
Graphic: RADEON X800 GTO2
Windows XP Home Edition

Could anybody please help me?

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

Of course I did that first and searched the forum...

This is how I mount the drives:

mount g g:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0 -ioctl
mount r c:\rayman

The game itself ist working fine.

This is how I configured the sound:

[mixer]
nosound=false
rate=22050
blocksize=2048
prebuffer=10

[midi]
mpu401=intelligent
device=default
config=

[sblaster]
sbtype=sb16
sbbase=220
irq=7
dma=1
hdma=5
mixer=true
oplmode=auto
oplrate=22050

[gus]
gus=false
...

Thanks for your help!

AAAARGH!

Did I say I read your guide? Of course I did NOT! 😦

Now I installed the game again like in your guide and USING C and D drive names just like you said - voila, everything's working.

SORRY FOR WASTING YOUR TIME!

glad it worked out for you.
Dos games can be real picky about the fact that they want to use C and D
