Has anyone tried this card in pure DOS?
Have one and thinking of replacing my terrible sounding CT1740 Sound Blaster 16 with this card.

Is it the same with Terratec DMX? If that's the case, then it's based on ESS Maestro chip. Further info can be found here.
Never thought this thread would be that long, but now, for something different.....

Then I guess it's an ESS-based sound card. I'm not sure if it's ESS Maestro or not, but my expectations aren't that far from those of Ultima 7 Sound Card page.

The 128i is based on the ES1938 AFAIK (Solo-1). The Maestor is ES1968.
ES1938 Product Brief - looks not bad.
Going to give it a go then 😀
Anything is better than the old crap SB16 cards...
Maybe the wavetable header works in DOS too? 😁
PCI in DOS is not a very good idea Amigaz, why you wanna replace the ISA SB16? you have some nice models there...

PCI cards like the Diamond Monster MX200 & 300 SBPro mode sound very nice and after I started using a Terratec 16/96 Gold for SbPro compatability I'm very interested to hear how the ESS chip in this Terratex card will handle SBPro sound
If you asked me 2-3 years ago I would have been satisfied with the ols SB16's but after trying some other cards I realize how poor the slound quality is on the SB16 cards....what really annoys me are the clicks and pops that sometimes appear.
have you tried any ESS based ISA vards? They are nice IIRC

hmmm...have some spare one's...not sure if they have a wavetable header though
