If a generic driver exists, it would surely be on the MSFN boards or mdgx.com . Maybe you can even try asking there.

Can you be more specific about what DLL is missing? Do you mean that you unpacked the MSI and tried to find the specific DLL inside it? (If you're looking for a driver, it will be an .inf file, of course.)

In that case you should head over to Sysinternals and get Filemon or Procmon . That ought to tell you what DLL it is failing to find.

Well, yes, that's also quite possible. 🙄 On the other hand, I think you'd get an error message explicitly stating that your version of the Windows installer is out of date if that was the problem, rather than just something about a missing DLL.

It also suddenly occurs to me that something in the installer might need the .NET runtime; funny error messages also show up when that's missing.

Anyway, does the installer for installer 3.x not work under 98lite? Like the .NET runtime, it should be available from any number of places.
