First I want to say that I am in heaven .. I used to live and breathe the uuw games and have been trying to get them to run on NT W2K and XP to no avail. I have now discovered DosBox so I am hopeful. I have the original Floppies and patches and I also have the cd version with both uuw 1 & 2. Which one will I have better luck with?

I also have saved games and the uw edit (god mode) mini program where you can change all your stats .. will they work?

I'm so excited! I have dreamed of playing this game again and now it looks like a dream come true!

I bought the floppy versions when UW1&2 came out, and after the disks were broken, I got the CD version instead. I don't remember any difference between the two, though, I think Origin simply copied the contents of the floppy disks to one CD. Your saved games should work, as well as the edit program (only if it's a DOS program of course, I've never used it).

I'd suggest installing from CD as it didn't cause any problems for me. Before you play though, open your dosbox.conf (DOSBox install dir) with notepad and set core=dynamic, cycles=12.000 (well, something like that) and cycles up/down=1000. Play around with Ctrl-F11/Ctrl-F12 for speed adjustment ingame.

AFAIK the CD Version has the patches preinstalled for either of the games. Not sure though. I only owned the CD version at the time I'd have investigated 😀

they are the same, the CD only has the official patches pre-installed... so if you don't care about it, gety the CD version...
