Hey, I just upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 and all of a sudden Dosbox wouldn't read my arrow keys. I went into the keybinding utility and found that it was reading "up arrow" as "printscreen", "left arrow" as "left alt", "left alt" as "numpad enter", and right and down arrows as "unknown character". "Unknown character" is showing up in mapper.txt as "key 0" for both keys, so keybindings for right and down arrow don't persist if I close Dosbox.

Anyone have any idea why this would be happening (or how to fix it)?

i would blame the update of ubuntu for that. dosbox hasn't changed for almost a year now. I don't have clue what they changed

It's probably some evdev bug, I was just wondering if anyone knew a workaround.

Yeah ran into that as I installed Ubuntu 8.10 (got a new drive for my laptop)
Anyway, in your .dosboxrc, or dosbox.conf
set

usescancodes=false

That "fixed it" right away 😁

I <3 text based configurations for the reason the options are listed so nicely. Helped with setting that timed=false setting for my gamepad too...
